So there is pretty much no shortage of companies on the internet hawking video game inspired goods, but 1up Shirts seems to have some cool ideas. They only have 3 up so far, but they are supposedly limited edition. I’ll definitely be ordering up the Link one, and probably the SMB one as well.
So I like to listen to DI.fm’s gabber channel when I pvp, it’s nice and fast, and matches my playstyle. This song was on the other day, and I’ve become kid of obsessed with it. Can’t find an mp3, but here is a youtube video.
It’s pretty much been all over the internet that Mythic has fucked the warhammer community over pretty Bad. An error with their credit card processor has caused subscribers to be charged multiple times for their subscriptions, costing some subscribers upwards of one thousand dollars in fees. That’s a pretty bad thing to happen to a game that is just barely hanging in there anyway.
Unfortunately I haven’t always been the most financially responsible person, so I know what it’s like to have your bank account zapped, and have no idea what your going to do until it’s cleared up. I was severely disappointed by a large part of the player base that wanted to talk shit on those who were the most heavily affected by this error. They seem to think that if you cannot take a 500 dollar hit to your bank account, that you should not be playing in the first place. This is a pretty shitty attitude to take, as online games are actually a fairly inexpensive form of entertainment. I would say that for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, a 15 dollar a month bill for something that can entertain you every day is pretty damn cheap.
On the other end there were some people who were obviously trying to milk the situation by presenting scenarios that were obviously made up. This is actually shittier because the support team has to deal with these while they should be concentrating on helping people who actually need it. I’m all for trolling for fun, but this is the time to chill the fuck out.
I’m curious to see what Mythic is going to do about this. Obviously getting funds restored to customers is priority number one right now, but after that it’s time to earn back some trust, and kiss some serious fucking ass.
Ask anyone who knows me what my favorite all time game is, most likely they will tell you it’s the Street Fighter series. It’s strange, cuz I actually kind of suck at the game, at least anything past SF2. The later ones got too crazy for me to keep up, but I still love to play them.
I get really nostalgic over this series, it brings back really good childhood memories of hanging at the mall arcade, and playing in the tournaments at blockbuster video. This game was the reason I saved up for a year to buy a super nintendo, and even bought the shitty fightstick they had back then. I’ve owned damn near every game in the series available for whatever console I happened to be into at the time. I’ve bought movies, comics, action figures, t-shirts, hell anything I could get my hands on.
When they announced SF4 last year I was more stoked then I have ever been for a game. Immediately preordered that bitch, along with a new Hori fightstick. When I was able to finally pick it up I played that shit non stop, loving every minute of it. I loved pretty much everything about it.
Now on to what this post is actually supposed to talk about. SF4 was released for the iphone/ipod touch recently. You would probably think I would be all over it, but honestly I wasn’t that stoked. I just couldn’t imagine the games controls transferring over to the touch interface, AND the price is pretty fucking high. 10 bucks seems like a lot when I can get a killer game like plants vs zombies for under 5.
I was wrong. After reading some reviews, I bit the bullet and downloaded it. Capcom did a good fucking job with this one, yeah it’s not perfect, but it’s much better than what I expected. It looks great, and flows pretty good. The controls surprised me, I have no issues pulling off special moves, and even supers. I still think it’s a bit pricey, but whatever. Now I can play street fighter while I take a shit. And honestly, that’s pretty damn amazing.
So in all the years I have been playing games, I have never played a Final Fantasy title. I’ve always been more of an action or platformer kind of guy, and RPG’s don’t appeal to me, especially Japanese ones. I decided though that I would give this one a shot, the screenshots looked beautiful, and the battle system looked like it could be pretty fun. So here we go.
This really is a beautiful looking game. The characters look great, and so does the environment. The Cut scenes are pretty damn awesome as well. And that is the end of my positive points.
I hated this fucking game. I will go ahead and let you know that I only played into ot for about 6.5 hours. Now I’ve read that you don’t get past all the tutorials till about hour 10, but I don’t have the patience for that. I don’t think game tutorials should last more than an hour.
The gameplay is horribly slow. Like, you will walk for a little bit, then a battle starts, when it ends you have 2 screens to click through, then you walk 10 feet, another battle, 2 screens, cut scene, walk 10 feet, and another fucking cut scene. This could take a half hour, and you really only played for a few minutes. YAWN.
The battle system was boring. I never felt like I was really in control of anything. I mean yeah I can switch paradigm’s or whatever, but that was boring. And I’ll be damned if I got to make one actual decision in the whole 6 hours I played. I thought that was what RPG’s were supposed to be about? like every decision you make will impact the path of the story.
Maybe I just don’t get this style of game. I play games for fun, to blow off steam, so I can escape for a few hours a day. But fucking a this game just wasn’t any fun. It was like watching a really boring movie with some shitty battles thrown in every so often.
I’m just gonna go back and finish up Darksiders now.
